What is the Finance Challenge? • Three days – November 10 – 12, 2004 • Team case competition open to all first year MBA students • Focuses on key topics covered in core Finance class and used in corporate applications • Corporate Finance • Longest running and largest MBA case competition at McCombs • 2004 marks the 14th annual Finance Challenge • Eight corporate sponsors • Networking • Opportunity to compete at Tulane’s national Finance Challenge • FUN!!!

Logistics of the Challenge • Wednesday, November 10 • Kick-off the Challenge • Case pick-up • Begin work • Thursday, November 11 • Working day • Attend regular classes • Friday, November 12 • Breakfast • Case presentations • Lunch and announcement of finalists • Finalist presentations in afternoon • Cocktail reception and announcement of winners • Saturday, November 13 • Golf

  5. What to think about when selecting a team • Diversity of talents • Quantitative and qualitative analysis • Presentation skills • Strong rapport and teamwork abilities • People you like! • Similar expectations

Timeline between now and November • Select teams • Complete resumes • Stay on track with concepts covered in your core Finance course • Recognize that there will be skills you may gain during PLUS that you will be able to use in the Finance Challenge • Possible “crash course” offered by professors prior to Challenge • Sign-up for Finance Challenge, September 30
