Since 1948 its function has been to support the state of Israel. • Persecution: the subjecting of a race or group of people to cruel or unfair treatment, example: because of their ethnic origin or religious beliefs • Israel: Modern state of Israel was established in 1948 it was established as a place for the Jews to go after WW2. Israel • Israel’s relations with U.S.: Israel is considered a major ally of the United States in the region, receiving American aid since its creation in 1948. Early American support for Israel was sparked by the need for a Jewish state in the aftermath of WW2and the Holocaust.
