From the organisational perspective-Diagnostics are gathered to help organisationsbetter understand their skills, abilities, and interests to facilitate the reengineering process

  3. Resource mobilisation perspective it would imply taking stock of the existing resources mobilisation • Process • Amounts • Who is involved for solicitation • Who is involved for granting- (# donors)

  4. Funding Sources • Government subvention • Government support through the Presidential Initiative • Bilateral support from Northern Governments • Support from Foundations and other donor agencies • Tuition and other fees • Service based revenue/ Space rentals

  5. Characteristics • Bulk of resource from government and tuition • Fragmentation in access and usage • Delinked from university processes-strategic plan

  6. Internal Weaknesses Process oriented • Un-coordinated solicitation process • Inadequate incentives for resource mobilisation • Weak Information Management systems • Data capture • Inadequate reporting structures

  7. Internal Weakness Human resource Capacity • Resource mobilisation capacities not documented- no clear human resource capacity mapping • Inadequate dissemination of resource mobilisation capacity • Training not translated into resources mobilised/ uncoordinated training • Over concentration in some units/departments • Over reliance on traditional modes of resource mobilisationie proposals writing predominantly for research grants targeting conventional donors

  14. External Weaknesses • Popularisation of some ‘problems’ e.g HIV/AIDS • National environment- per capita GDP 500 • Political interference e.g tuition fee increment • Negatively impacting issues of national/international dimension e.g gay rights

  15. Pending Issues • Data Collection On Resource Mobilisation Strategies (Specific To The Pilot Colleges) • Building The Fund Raising Plan • Identify And Categories The Key DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS/DONORS By Interest • Develop Capacity For ‘THE CASE FOR SUPPORT’

  16. Way Forward • Set in motion the process review for resource mobilisation • Check for completeness of the records of development/research projects • Involve units- communication officers as information portal custodians • Need for systematic periodic updates
