  2. Geographic Location ∙Stretch of land next to the Nile from Aswan down to Khartourn in the South. ∙Some migrated to Aswan and Komombo or South to Sudan because of flooding in the lakes.

  3. Religion The Kingdoms converted to Christianity the sixth century. Long after they became Christian. They worshiped the sun. Examples of their religion was origin myths, Isis and Oris, Memphite theology, and Death and Resurrection.

  4. How they made money They traded Ebony wood, ivory, ostrich eggs and feathers, animal skins, and throw sticks. They were known as famous traders because they traded over land.

  5. Women played an important role. Nubian women exercised significant control. The people worshiped their queens. They were known as the bearers of the offspring of the gods.

  6. Type of houses There were a total of 223 pyramids in ancient Nubia. The underground graves was where the wealthy Nubians lived. All the pyramids wasn’t momuments of kings.

  7. Farming The majority of the people were involved in farming. Growing season lasted eight- nine months. ( July- November). Principle crops were wheat, fruit, and vegetables. They only farmed the basic crops they needed for survival. The Nile River brought them their constant resources.

  8. Art/Music/Literature The Nubians loved poetry. They also loved songs of Chester Beatty Papyrus.

  9. Government Structure The Nubians had a centralized government by 3100 BC. They were controlled by a line of hereditary rulers. The kings were called Pharaohs, who kept a royal court of advisors and nobility. Pharaohs had come to be considered as representatives of the gods on earth and themselves at the ceremonies.
