Policy Updates • Within regular session, 2010, Senate Bill No. 553 was passed enacting ACT No.660: • (29)(a) By the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year, develop and adopt a policy whereby students shall be allowed to accelerate their academic progress, complete all high school graduation requirements established by the board, and receive a high school diploma in less than four years. Bulletin 741: §2317. F. Each LEA shall develop an early graduation program allowing students to accelerate their academic progress, complete all state graduation requirements, and receive a high school diploma in less than four years. 1.The early graduation program may include distance education (§2395), dual enrollment (§2327), and Carnegie credit earned in middle school (§2321). 2.LEAs shall not have any policies or requirements that would prevent students from graduating in less than four years.

Accelerated Student Achievement Pathway(ASAP) ASAP provides an opportunity for overage/at-risk students to graduate high school at an accelerated pace primarily through the use of distance learning opportunities. Primary methods of delivery
Louisiana Seat Time Waiver (LSTW) • LSTW students can take traditional courses in manners that prioritize student proficiency over time. Primary methods of delivery Methods other than the aforementioned can be approved as seat time waiver programs through prior approval from the Department
Flexible Scheduling • Combination of Distance Education and Brick and Mortar • Students focus on certain classes within distance education to allow for accelerated completion Traditional Schedule Students are on a three year graduation pathway with close attention paid to deficient area(s) Complete Distance Education Curriculum Students utilize online curriculum to complete required GLE’s at their own pace Condensed student schedule (waiving seat time through LSTW pilot) Students are placed into classes where completion of GLE’S can be reached at varied paces Mentoring and student portfolios must be embedded within each of the models

Louisiana Seat Time Waiver (LSTW)2011-2012 Pilot Sites Currently in progress… Louisiana Seat Time waivers will be offered to all overage first time freshman by 2012-2013
