Making Appointments • Making appointments in Jamaica follows English customs • Be on time for appointments with business affiliates • Ensure you know directions to places by confirming with your affiliates • One needs to know how to: • Suggest times, politely agree to appointments, express times that may not be convenient, cancel appointments, apologize, and ask for confirmation Making Appointments in Jamaica
Business Dress • If uniforms aren’t provided, employees wear dress shirts, ties, and/ or business suits; dress is mostly conservative • Jamaican causal business: khaki slacks and polos • You should war a business suit for at least the first business meeting • Consider that the climate in Jamaica can be humid and hot • Outside of work atmosphere, casual dress is permissible • Try to avoid indecent, suggestive, or inappropriate clothing- it may suggest that you are not serious about your business Men’s and Women’s Business Dress
