  3. OFF = OFF • OFF ≠ silent • OFF ≠ vibrate • OFF ≠ “I hope it doesn’t ring in class…” • OFF ≠ “He just says to turn it off but he doesn’t really mean it…” • Turn your cell phone off. • Now. • Really.

  4. Laptops, iPads, etc… • You are welcome to use laptops, netbooks, iPads, etc. for classroom purposes only • Use of these devices is permitted only in the front two rows of the classroom

  5. Course Materials • Textbook (Includes required recordings) • Internet access - course resources online • Notebook and pen/pencil • Calendar • Time • An open mind

  6. Policies • All policies are in the online greensheet. • The greensheet is a contract. • Regular attendance. • Late work. • Copying and cheating. • Cell phones OFF. • NO food or beverages in A11 - really!

  9. Other music classes • Beginning keyboard, voice, guitar, winds, percussion • Performing groups: band, orchestra, choirs, instrumental and vocal jazz, world music • Electronic music • Music Fundamentals and Comprehensive Musicianship • Intro to Jazz Styles

  10. Questions? Answers! • Take out a piece of paper and a pen/pencil. • Write down 4 questions about this class. • Join your assigned group. • After introductions, select a timer and recorder. • Every person in group reads 4 questions. • Prioritize top four group questions.
