  1. The ‘Go-SNAX’ Project We are carrying out ‘market research’ for the Go-SNAX company. Today we are going to ‘taste test’ some healthy treats and produce some figures and graphs that can be used as part of our research.

  2. Taste Tests • You are going to taste some snacks and give them a score to show your opinion. • What could you be asked to give a score for?

  3. Some possible ideas Choose 5 descriptors to score in your taste test • Texture (How it feels) • Type of taste • What type of smell • How it looks • How it feels Look at the vocabulary sheet and choose, in your groups, 5 descriptors.

  4. Example Results We are going to look at how some other pupils have recorded their taste test results. Excel spreadsheet of results. Excel spreadsheet for single response

  5. Food allergies If any pupils are not allowed certain types of foods can they please let me know now. Thank you.

  6. Your task • Prepare your recording sheet (5 descriptors to judge each your snack) • Run your taste tests keeping accurate records of the scores. • Use your spreadsheet to present your results clearly (using suitable graphs). Make sure you save your work with sensible filenames.

  7. Market Research Look at your graphs and figures. • How easy are they to understand? • What makes a good graph? Looking forward We are going to use these figures to help judge the types of snacks that are most popular so we can develop a new product that should sell well.
