  5. Celebrations: • We had a safety drill this morning and all of our students and staff did a great job!

  6. Celebrations: • Last year we celebrated our county’s teacher of the year who came from our school. • She now works for us as a coach…kind of like a teacher’s teacher. • Mrs. Mabanag • On August 16th, Two of our staff members were recognized at the district level: • Mr. Luna (for all the support that he’s provided our students in various programs) • Mr. Inoue (for building student leaders who did some amazing anti-bullying work in our school. • We have had many staff recognized and many who have taken on district coaching and administrative positions. This year we got back two excellent teachers who were on leave: • Mrs. Gamez • Mrs. Roberts

  7. Celebrations: • We met 2 of our 3 WIGs : Wildly Important Goals. • Culture(almost met):Attendance…97% target….…we had about a ½%growth which is good but we just missed our goal. • Academic (Met): 5% growth on state test in ELA • Leadership (Met):100% Student Leadership Roles

  8. 2018-19 WIGs • Culture: Students will feel better about their school when surveyed about being: Welcomed, loved, trusted, valued, safe, and celebrated. We will set a percentage growth after the initial survey is given. • Academic: 5% Growth in English Language Arts and 5% Math on State Test (CAASPP) • Leadership: 100% of our students will learn the 7 habits well enough to teach them to someone.

  9. Celebrations: • The longer you stay with us the more successful the results: • This year’s State Scores looking at growth from 6th grade to 8th grade in ELA: We had the largest growth in the district!!! • Stem students beat out all national subgroup statistics • Nationally: Hispanic 38.6%, White 64.5%, Black 53.4%, Asian 71.2%, Other 62.8%, all 59.7% • Our Program 73.7% • We have an upward trend as students go through the grades at our school. • This means that our program is working. • It also makes sense since we have more than half of our population that is considered English Learners meaning that their first language is not English…Research states that it takes 5-7 years to develop academic language proficiency (3-5 years oral proficiency and 4-7 years Academic proficiency). Note about Grades: GPA
