Prevelance And Demographics UNITED STATES Prevelance • Four Million cases a year Demographics • Mostly children • Most people get it by adulthood • People that have not gotten infected and is near an infecty Complications • 4,000- 9,000 cases in the hospital a year Mortality • 100 people die from it a year mostly adults or kids with a weak immune system
Symptoms • Mild Fever • Outbreak of itchy blisters all over your body
Incubation Period/Mode of Transmission • The Incubation period is two to three weeks long • The mode of transmission from one person through another is • through direct contact with fluids from broken chickenpox blisters • or through the air by someone with the disease coughing or sneezing
Diagnosis and Treatment • Infected people get diagnosed by sypmtoms, but a blood test is useful to confim if diagnosis is necessary • What pepople use for treatment is antibiotics ,but only for adults and people who have a risk of getting a more serious disease • All you can do is wait, and not scratch your blisters so you don't get an infection
Prevention To Chickenpox • People that have Chicken Pox please stay at home • At least one week or until the blisters become dry • Make your children get a vaccine to prevent chicken pox • Ages 12-18 months • Before the age of 13 • And if your an adult that has not being infected with this virus • It prevents 70-90% of the people that get vaccinated from getting the infection

Extras • You can only get sick from this virus once • The virus stays with you forever, causing shingles • The shingles can cause people that have not gotten chickenpox get the disease • Chickenpox is called chickepox because the shape of the blisters • They look like the vegetable chick peas
