  2. Use PowerPoint (PPT) for Web-based • Create Step-by-Step Instructions & put on website: • As regular PPT file (student must have PowerPoint installed on their computer. Slow Downloading) • As an “htm” (the webpage file is accessible with Internet Browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape. Slow Downloading) • As a “Streaming Video” file (Use Impactica to convert & it is Fast Downloading over Internet). Any browser will run this file. Animation is limited. Click for next Slide

  3. Build Your Vocabulary • Slides - Screen for presentation viewing • Slideshow - Series of slides, full screen • Transition - Visuals & sounds between slides • Slide Sorter-Thumbnail view of slides • Template - Predetermined slide formats Click for next Slide

  4. Getting Started Click: PowerPoint Icon on Desktop Add pull down menus here Or [PowerPoint] 3 [Programs] 2 [Start] 1 Click for next Slide

  5. Adding New Slide Click (Home Ribbon): Click: [Layout] & this box appears [Insert] [New Slide] Now, choose the format you need Click for next Slide

  6. To Run Presentation Click: (View Ribbon) or [View] [Slide Show] Click: (Slide Show Ribbon) Click: [From Beginning] or [From Current Slide] or Icon Movie Screen @Bottom Right or F5on Keyboard Click for next Slide

  7. Different Views in PowerPoint Normal view (building slide) Slide Show (Runs Show) Click to run slideshow Slide Sorter (Sort, Delete, move, & slides) Click for next Slide

Inserting Graphics Click: (Insert Ribbon) Type graphic needed & Click [Go]or, Click [Clip art on Office Online] • [Insert] [Picture] • [Clipart] Type graphic needed & Click [Search] or Locate the graphic & Click on it. [Insert] [Picture] -[From File] Locate file & Click [Insert] Click for next Slide

  9. Insert Sounds 1st Click: : (Insert Ribbon) [Insert] [Sounds] Locate File & Click [OK] 2nd: To choose when start sound Click: [Automatically] or [When Clicked] Click for next Slide

  10. Insert Movies 1st Click:(Insert Ribbon) [Insert] [Movies] Locate File & Click [OK] 2nd: To choose when start Movie Click: [Automatically] or [When Clicked] Click for next Slide 10

Adding Transitions ( happenings between slides) Click: [Animations] Ribbon • Choose slide advancement: • On mouse click • Automatically after ___ # of seconds Choose from the Slide Transitions presented Click on Down-arrow to Choose of the 3 entry transitions speeds: Slow Medium Fast Choose [Apply to All] Click for next Slide

  12. Adding Animations (anything that moves) Click: [Animations] Ribbon The Custom Animation menu slides down  [Custom Animations] To Animate, Click on the itemon list or Click item itself To add (movement), Click [Add Effect ] The 4 animation options are on next slide Click for next Slide 12

  13. Adding Animations:4 Options Remember, an animation is anything that moves. Here the 4 are demonstrated: Stretch Down Entrance is the main animation tool (Spiral in) Emphasis - to accent (Flash Bulb) Exit (Faded Zoom) Very Slow Motion Paths (Parallelogram) Very Slow “Entrance” details are on the following Slides Click for next Slide

Tips for More Effective Presentations • Use 2 or 3 Colors, but don’t overdo it. • Use Simple Animation for Text/picture Entry • Do not put too much information on a slide • Link all animations for 1 topic together & slow it down • Slow Animation - so the slowest reader can finish. • List after List is boring!!!!!

  18. Saving “pptx” or “ppt” file as webpage Click: [Office Button] [SaveAs] [Other Formats] When the “SaveAs box” appears: Click: Down Arrow next to [Save as type] Click: [Web Page] Type: the File name Click: [Save]
