Meets E-Rate requirements for an approved technology plan. Brings together key district staff to articulate technology goals and strategies. Assesses and plans for technology integration into instructional practices that support the Ohio academic content standards. Communicates to stakeholders how your organization is using, or plans to use, technology to enhance student learning. Encourages the district to maintain a current and working technology plan.   3. Encourage Tech Committee to begin meeting to draft a technology plan. The Technology Plan must: Be created before Form 470/RFP posting Cover all 12 months of the funding year Contain all Five E-Rate Technology Planning Elements Contain a sufficient level of detail to validate the E-Rate request in the Form 470 Be approved by eTech Ohio before Form 486 is filed or services start, whichever is sooner Covers a 3 year period Basic E-Rate Requirements 2323 West Fifth Avenue, Suite 100, Columbus, OH 43204 s Tel: 614.485.6000 Fax: 614.485.6000 |www.etech.ohio.gov

Tech plans must be created before the Form 470 is filed Applicants need to determine the services they require before filing their Form 470 October to December 2008 Tech plans must be approved by eTech Ohio before services start or the Form 486 is filed (whichever is earlier) Generally, this means on or before July 1 of the new funding year Suggestion: Submit your plan by April 30 to ensure your ETC has adequate time for review and approval Important E-Rate Dates Written/Created: When the tech plan first contains the five required elements in sufficient detail to support the services requested on the associated Form 470. The date this occurs is the Creation Date. The plan must establish clear goals and a realistic strategy for using telecommunications and information technology to improve education; The plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff know how to use these new technologies to improve education; The plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services, hardware, software, and other services that will be needed to improve education; The plan must provide a sufficient budget to acquire and support the non-discounted elements of the plan: the hardware, software, professional development and other services that will be needed to implement the strategy; and The plan must include an evaluation process that enables the school to monitor progress toward the specified goals and make mid-course corrections in response to new developments and opportunities as they arise. How will you develop staff and student competency for using technology?   17. Change status to Draft Complete This will let the Educational Technology Consultant (ETC) assigned to your district know that they can start reviewing the plan. Remember, the Treasurer and Superintendent must have active Hall Pass accounts and be Users of the TPT in order for plan to be submitted as Draft Complete. Your ETC will communicate any corrections or clarifications that may need to be made to your plan. First the Treasurer and then the Superintendent will need to review and approve plan after the ETC has reviewed and approved plan. A certification letter will be available after the approval process has been completed. It will be posted in the archive area of the planning tool as well as linked from the Status tab on the Plan Home Page and sent via e-mail to the Superintendent and TPT Administrator.
