National Technology Plan • National technology plan focuses on 5 goals • Fundamentally change the learning process by engaging and empowering. • Productivity: Redesign and transform- move out of the ‘old’ time-based • Infrastructure: Assess & Enable-an infrastructure that provides every student, educator, and level of our education system with the resources they need • Teaching: Prepare & Connect – connected educators working as a team instead of solo teaching staying fully connected 24/7 • Assessment: Measure what matters – diagnose strengths and weaknesses in the course of learning when there is still time to improve performance.
State Technology Plan Teaching & Learning Educator Preparation & Development Access to relevant technology 24/7 Use technology to collaborate, construct knowledge and solutions to real world problems Use research based strategies in all subjects Use technology to communicate effectively for diverse audiences Educators are required to graduate from an educator program which models current technology Know how to use technology effectively in the classroom Utilize technology in a flexible way Ensure integration of technology in curriculum
State Technology Plan Leadership Infrastructure Develop, implement and budget for a dynamic technology plan Create innovative technology to maximize teaching Offer expanded curricula via digital technology Access to e-learning 24/7 for all users Just In Time technical assistance Measures to ensure data is secure Standards to support interoperability and accessibility for all users
District Plan • Teaching & Learning - The district is still in the developing stage of technology school using technology from 2008-09. • Educator Preparation & Development – The district has little to no educator preparation for technology • Leadership, Administration, & Instructional Support – The district has no instructional support for leadership • Infrastructure for Technology - The district showed target tech stages for infrastructure for advanced tech for the 2009/2010 school year but it was never achieved. The district does provide access to the internet by providing laptops and one lab.
School • The Jr. Sr. High School has little to no technology. There is a computer lab in the Jr. High building and one in the High School building. • The school has one lap-top cart which is shared between all teachers in both Jr. High and High School • There is a computer room which is used for all computer and business classes but the computers in the room are out dated (10 years old) and the systems do not match the State or National Technology standards • The school does not provide any training or support for any of the technology.
