STUDIES MEDIA UNIT 2 – Outcome One Media Production
MEDIA PRODUCTION Media productions exist to excite, inform and engage people. Regardless of their intentions and outcomes, most media productions have one thing in common – they are the result of a complex production process that often involves the expertise and energies of many individuals.
MEDIA INDUSTRY PRODUCTION The Media Studies curriculum offers many exciting avenues for students to potentially follow such as; • radio or audio • audio-visual or video • photographs • print • multimedia • animation • web
THE PRODUCTION PROCESS Most media productions are often a result of long and carefully thought out production process. Typically, this process contains THREE STAGES: Pre-production: Known as the ‘planning’ or ‘inception’ phase Production: If pre-production is the planning stage, then the production is the ‘doing’ stage
THE PRODUCTION PROCESS Post Production: Post-production includes all the activity that happens after the production stage. It is the ‘finishing stage’, where the final stages of a project are added or worked on. By the end of this Outcome, students need to be able to define specific processes undertaken by each media form (from slide two).
