  2. Why do I have to take this test? Who must take the CELDT? The CELDT must be given to students identified as English learners once a year as per the school district’s evaluation process until they are reclassified as fluent English(RFEP).

  3. How do I become redesignated as English Proficient? Score Basic or above on the CST Achieve and overall score of 4 or above on the CELDT.

  15. gas pump, gasoline pump This is used to put gas in your car.

  16. blender A blender is used to mix food to make sauces and smoothies.

  17. gloves These are used to protect your hands.

  18. matches They are used to light candles and start barbecues. Matches are used to start fires.

  19. flashlight This is used during emergencies, like earthquakes, when you need light.

  20. tent This is used to provide shelter when people are camping.

  21. clock A clock usually hangs on a wall and is used to tell time.

  22. goggles These are used to protect your eyes.

  23. apron It is used when cooking to keep your clothes clean. It is used to protect your clothes. It is used to protect you in science lab.

  24. beakers These are used in science classes to contain liquids. They hold liquids in science labs.

  25. map Maps are used to find places or to plan trips.

  26. Train tracks Train tracks allow trains to move along a path. They guide a train.

  27. watch A watch is usually worn on a person’s wrist and is used to tell time.

  28. Thesaurus A thesaurus is used to find synonyms. It is used to look up words that have the same meaning.

  29. compass A compass is used to draw circles.

  30. Tree roots Tree roots help trees absorb water from the ground.

  31. protractor A protractor is used to measure angles.

  32. Question mark This is used to punctuate a sentence which asks a question. It is used instead of a period when you ask a question.

  33. electrical outlet An electrical outlet is used to supply power the things like lamps, TVs, and radios.

  34. Quotation marks They used to show the exact words someone said. You use them when you write to show the exact words that someone said.

  35. battery A battery is used to supply power to appliances and electrical devices.

  36. Exclamation mark This is used at the end of a sentence to show excitement.

  37. microscope A microscope is used in science classes to see cells.

  38. whistle You blow into a whistle to make a loud, high pitched noise.

  39. fireman He fights fires. He extinguishes fires. He rescues people during fires.

  40. chef, cook He prepares food in a restaurant. He makes food in a restaurant. He cooks food.

  41. judge The person is a judge, she listens to cases and makes decisions. She decides if people are innocent or guilty. She makes legal decisions.

  43. doctor, nurse She takes care of newborn babies. She takes care of sick people. She delivers babies.
