System Objective • To make trade documents available electronically through the Internet to facilitate the domestic and international movement of US agricultural products.
Features and Benefits • Provides users with the ability to access commodity-related trade documents as PDFs and document data as XML files • Electronic document management eliminates the need for hard-copy documents that may be lost, damaged, or stolen • Allows authorized product owners, shippers, carriers, brokers, owners, and port agents 24 X 7 access to critical information • Securely hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA, AMS) • Secure access validated by USDA’s eAuthentication service
Investment Information • Development amounting to $720,000 funded by FAS through the peanut and dairy trade associations • Application development performed by an industry-contracted developer • AMS supports web site and document storage • Trade association governance group to coordinate change requests and funding for long-term operational support
eTDE Certificate Work Flow 1 Authorized users access their eTDE trade documents via the internet browser and view, print, or download certificate data as PDF files 5 3 4 2 6 1 Trade Document Providers input trade certificate data in their internal systems Trade Document Providers create electronic PDF certificates with downloadable data using eTDE Toolkit or image-only PDF certificates using eSCAN 2 Providers securely transmit files to the eTDE system; USDA validates and uploads them into the repository 3 Trade Document Owners manage end-user access to trade documents once documents available in the eTDE system 4 5 Authorized users download eTDE certificate data as XML data files for use in corporate information systems 6
Accessing the Site Enter www.etde.usda.gov in a browser to access the eTDE Welcome Page Disclaimer Statement regarding USDA role and content sources, as reviewed by OGC Click to apply for USDA eAuthentication account 1 Click to login 2
User Log-in Enter eAuth Username and Password 1 2 Click to “Login” 3 First-time users will be directed to a Profile Page to request party and role associations Return users will be directed to the Home Page
User Home Page Double-clicking document ID number opens the document on-screen The Home Page displays a list of recently added documents that the current user has provided, owns, or to which access rights have been granted. 1 2 Users can also search for trade documents using search criteria
Viewing Certificates Certificates display on-screen as hard copy would with all data provided by the document supplier
Printing Certificates Printed certificates are identical to on-screen certificates except that they include validation instructions at the bottom of each certificate The authenticity of the information on this certificate can be verified by viewing the document(s) with certificate number AG40837 at http://www.etde.usda.gov. The information on this certificate was produced by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service.
Viewing eSCAN Certificates eSCAN certificates allow exporters to upload critical trade documents as image-only certificates. Because the exporter is not the original document issuer, an additional disclaimer notice is provided on all viewed and printed eSCAN documents This document was provided by the US Dairy Export Council.
