  1. SUCCESS CHARACTERISTICS OF BPR

  2. OBJECTIVES 1.0 Identify and explain the essential characteristics of success for a business reengineering project. drmasanom

  3. SUCCESS CHARACTERISTICS • 1.0 CUSTOMERS MATTER MOST • Without customers you have no business, no reason for existing. • Listen to them. What matters to them is what should matter to you. • Those business processes that support the customer relationship should be the focus of your redesign efforts. • Design from the outside in – start with the customer and work backward. drmasanom

  4. SUCCESS CHARACTERISTICS • 2.0 CREATE AND KEEP ONLY WHAT IS VALUE ADDING • You have to get ride of any work that does not significantly increase product or service value. • Don’t rely on IT alone to do this for you; it’s the people and how they use that technology that count. • Are they empowered to make decisions, to work with the customer, to take accountability for both quality and quantity and to act to resolve problems? drmasanom

  5. SUCCESS CHARACTERISTICS • 3.0 LEAD FROM THE TOP; WORK THE DETAIL FROM THE BOTTOM. • Ownership is required for successful implementation. • Create a project team made up of people from across the organization and from different levels; sprinkle this team lightly with experts in systems facilitation, and business reengineering, and the result will be process ownership and knowledge where it is most needed. drmasanom

  6. SUCCESS CHARACTERISTICS • 4.0 DESIGN THE WHOLE; IMPLEMENT IN PIECES • The foundation should be laid first; this may include a new common language, and a new technology infrastructure. • Each phase should deliver results; each phase should ready the organization for more learning and more change. • The Blueprint keeps the team from losing its focus. drmasanom

  7. SUCCESS CHARACTERISTICS • 5.0 BE DISCIPLINED AND STICK (committed) TO IT. • The team must be systematic in their work. • The steps and outcomes the BPR methodology provide the framework for assessing, designing, and implementing business reengineering. drmasanom

  8. SUCCESS CHARACTERISTICS • 6.0 DON’T LET CONSULTANTS DO IT FOR YOU OR TO YOU. • The consultants you want to hire for BR projects are those who provides the process and structure for a reengineering project, facilitates meetings where you break with the past, and helping you challenge the resistors and create strategies that make breakthroughs (successfulness). drmasanom
