Information Service • Definition • The collection assessment, processing and dissemination of information • Defining the need • Develop strongly rooted policies for the LGA • Provide information and stimulate innovation • Develop early warning system of developments • Provide feedback on core activities 2014/5/24 Bratislava Regional Center Bratislava Regional Center 6

Specialist advisory and technical services • Definition • Provision of advisory and technical services to local authorities • Defining the need • Help LGs to gain knowledge on subjects they lack experience • Fill in the gap of lack of specialists / skills • Prioritising the type of knowledge and skills to be developed in the LGA 2014/5/24 Bratislava Regional Center Bratislava Regional Center 9

Capacity building Definition The creation of an enabling environment through strengthened knowledge, skills and behavior and improved institutional structures and processes for organisation to efficiently meet mission and goals. Economic and financial services • Central purchasing • Negotiating for goods and services that are used by several local governments: purchasing of stationary for all local governments; conference and meeting facilities; publishing house • Thorough market research is needed • Negotiations with employment organisations • One of the main functions of SALAR is negotiation with employers syndicates on behalf of all member municipalities and regions 2014/5/24 Bratislava Regional Center Bratislava Regional Center 20
