2. River System • Tributary- small stream flowing onto a larger one • Drainage Basin- land where a river collects it’s water from- also called a water shed • Divide- land separating two drainage basin

3. Landforms Created by Erosion • Valleys • If in a mountainous region- often steep sided and straight due to fast moving water • If in a plain- often wide

4. Landforms Created by Erosion • Waterfalls- water passes over a hard to erode rock then a softer one.

5. Landforms Created by Erosion • Flood Plain- flat wide area along a river (Wabash River Valley)

6. Landforms Created by Erosion • Meander- a bend in the waterway • Easy to erode material is removed on the outside of the stream (water moving faster) and deposited on a inside of a curve (moving slower).
