Stage Heading Developing Objectives & Targets Phase 3 Stage 3 Why Objectives and targets developed to support the broad aims stated in the environmental policy, will form a central part of the EMS. They need to be related to the most significant aspects. Objectives and targets will provide a clear focus for EMS activity and also provide milestones against which to track and benchmark performance. The setting of objectives and targets to support policy aims and commitments is also a requirement of ISO14001. BS 8555 & Supply Chains • Allows you to differentiate between different groups and types of suppliers and specify the phase that they need to achieve by risk. • Allows you to specify environmental performance criteria. • Allows you demonstrate that your suppliers are improving their environmental performance.

  27. Use of Indicators • Acorn introduces indicators to track environmental performance against objectives and targets, and customer and legal requirements. Similarly, indicators are used to track progress against the implementation of the system. • Indicators are developed using the ISO14031 criteria
