  1. February Meeting Use Of ExtendSim In Simulation For Systems Engineering Applications Speaker: Gurvinder Kalyan Boeing Systems Engineer/Analyst Date & Location: 29 February 2012, Boeing Building 305 Conf Rm 190C Brown Bag Lunch / Presentation: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Abstract: Systems engineering encourages the use of tools to better comprehend and manage complexity in systems. One of these tools is simulation. ExtendSim is multi-purpose simulation tool for multi-domain environments. Mainly used in Boeing as a discrete event simulation tool. It can be used to develop dynamic models of business processes in a variety of different fields. ExtendSim can be used to explore the processes involved and see how they relate. Model the “as is scenario” and then explore “what if scenarios”. An overview of the ExtendSim capability will be demonstrated along with some sample models. Biography: Mr Kalyan holds a Master of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering from Loughborough University, UK. He comes from a systems engineering background and has worked for the Boeing Company since 2009 primarily in the field of business process modelling. Directions: B305 is on McDonnell Blvd between I-270 and Lindbergh. Reservations not required, but please contact Joanie Humbert (Joan.Humbert@boeing.com or 314-232-0703) by 27 February to attend, for a snack count and badging for non-Boeing attendees.
