National Policy, Programme and Coordination • Re-activation of national committee • Advocacy to policy makers at all level on IYCF • Implementation of IYCF policy • National plan for IYCF will be developed with appropriate allocation from government’s health sector programme budget • Finalization of IYCF manual in Nepali • Sensitization workshop on IYCF with concerned authorities for integrating it into pre-service curriculum • Develop appropriate course on IYCF for all levels of health professionals

National Policy, Programme and Coordination • Regional level MToT in 3 remaining regions • District level training on IYCF will be started in 25 districts in 2008 • Sectoral and cross-sectoral coordination will be done through IYCF committee at national level • Coordination at district level will be done through DPHO/DHO

  4. Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative • Re-vitalise BFHI • Re-assessment of BFHI • Expansion in 5 more hospitals

  5. Implementation of the International Code • Proper implementation of international code • Identification of focal person in nutrition section of Child Health Division for code monitoring

  6. Health and Nutrition • BCC and advocacy for early initiation of breastfeeding within one hr. (target to increase from 35 to 45 % in 2008) • BCC for exclusive breastfeeding for 6 mnths (target to increase from 53 to 63%) • Increase awareness on importance of nutrition for mothers during antenatal and posnatal period • Increase awareness regarding the importance on timely (after 6months) introduction and optimal complementary food
