  2. Hong Ma 3D Volumetric Sensing Using Resonant RF Tags • Detect passive resonant tags inductively coupled to coil • Locate and uniquely identify an ensemble of tags to describe meaningful 3D shapes • Do this in real-time to allow an interaction between the physical model and virtual model RESPONSIVE ENVIRONMENTS

  3. Nanogate Molecular Instrumentin Collaboration with James White and Prof. Slocum’s group • The Nanogate is a MEMS device that is designed to open and close a nanometer sized gap. • Control gate opening by deflecting the cantilevered plate on the outside of the silicon disc. • We hope to control the gate opening and use it to filter and sort biomolecules such as proteins and DNA. RESPONSIVE ENVIRONMENTS

  4. Nanogate Molecular Instrument Experimental Issues • Thermal Drift • Vibration • Displacement measurement (alignment) • Repeatability RESPONSIVE ENVIRONMENTS

  5. Results: 10 steps RESPONSIVE ENVIRONMENTS

  6. Results: 1 Step, 2nm Resolution! RESPONSIVE ENVIRONMENTS
