In 2002…. more than 877,000 young people between the ages of 10-24 were injured in violent acts
Approximately 1 in 13…. required hospitalization
In 2003…. 5,570 young people ages 10-24 were murdered…
That’s an average of …… 15 murder victims a day
82 percent ….. were killed with firearms
About 9% of murders in the US… were committed by youth under 18 in 2000. Around 1561 youth under the age of 18 were arrested for homicide.
About 1 in 3 high school students say they have been in a physical fight in the past year, and about 1 in 8 of those students required medical attention for their injuries
More than 1 in 6 students …. in grades 6 to 10 say they are bullied sometimes, and more than 1 in 12 say they are bullied once a week
Suicide…. is the third leading cause of death among teenagers in the United States….
About 1 in 11 high school students say they have made a suicide attempt in the past year…..
