Watch the video again to check your answers. • Brings Christ to the people • Make Christ present through the Sacraments • Teaches , preaches and follows the Gospel • Cares for the poor & forgotten • Enters into people’s lives at critical times in their lives • Has to give up many things to be a priest Write down your own definition of what a priest is, using your answers. Which do you think is the most important job of a priest?

The Bishop anoints the man’s hands with Holy Oil, as his hands will be used for his task of giving the Sacraments The Bishop gives the new priest a chalice and paten, as a sign that he is now a priest, for offering sacrifice to God. The Bishop lays his hands on the man’s head, giving him the power and authority of the Holy Spirit, to forgive sins Draw the 3 pictures, and add the labels to explain what is happening. **Look up Hebrews 5:1,4. What is the quote saying? Explain it in your own words.

Heb5:1,4 “Everyhigh priest is selected from among the people, to represent them before God, and offer gifts and sacrifices for sin.And no-one takes this honour on himself, but receives it from God.” Look up one of the quotes.   8. HW Is it right that all priests should be unmarried? Explain 2 reasons why being unmarried would help them to be a better priest. Explain 2 reason why it might be a good idea if priests were allowed to marry. Explain what you think and why.

  9. Draw a stick-person version of Deacon, Priest and Bishop. Label the differences between them. All of them wear dog-collars, but only bishops have a mitre (hat) and crozier (staff). Only deacons can marry. Only Bishops can give all the Sacraments – priests can’t give confirmation or Holy Orders. Deacons can only give the Sac. Of Baptism. *What do you see your priest doing in your church?
