  10. SELF CONTROL • We are emotional human beings. Our emotions seem to take control sometimes. • Acknowledging this and understanding how to control your emotions will make life easier. • At the root of a distressful situation is often a dominant need. • Understanding our needs can be the beginning of positive self-control. • According personal responsibility for our attitudes and actions will give us positive self-control. • Our goal is to erect a Statue of Responsibility.

  11. SELF CONTROL • The person who admits a mistake and says "I'm sorry" is accepting personal responsibility. • Qualifying phrases such as "If only…” creates weakness. • Everything you do is habit. Your habits are formed over many years and take time to break. Determine which losing habits you want to eliminate and strive to develop winning habits. • When our needs aren't met, we often become uncomfortable, upset, angry, or confused • One of the best ways to break a bad habit is to replace it with a good one. Rather than trying to force out the old bad habit, concentrate your energy on developing the new habit, which eventually will replace the old. • Life is a "do-it-to-myself program,” and take the credit and the blame for my position. • Positive self-control is a self-management skill, which, when developed, puts you in control of your career and environment.
