Features of Proposed High School • Creates learning environment to prepare students for college and career readiness • Aligns with the District Visioning Plan • Provides adequate space and equipment for 21st Century learning • Includes technology infrastructure and equipment • Increases safety and security • Facility under one roof with the exception of Goldie Harris Gym • Design enhances facility monitoring • Includes best practices for energy efficiency and conservation of resources

Features of Proposed High School Uses current high school site, eliminating the purchase of land and construction of duplicate facilities Incorporates the: SHS Freshman Center Matador Band Hall Goldie Harris Gym Minimizes relocation of students during construction Allows for flexibility of instructional spaces Serves 2,450 students

District Wide Technology • Provides infrastructure upgrades and additions • Increases WiFi access throughout all buildings • Replaces/Upgrades core network routers, switches and servers • Updates telephone system • Provides classroom instructional technology • Equips all classrooms with the hardware and software needed to deliver 21st century instruction, including full implementation of Project Based Learning across all campuses.

  5. November 5, 2013 Bond Election • Renovate, improve and construct a high school facility on the current Seguin High School site $78.3 Million; and • Fund technology enhancements at all elementary, middle school and other district facilities to enable21st century learning environments$5 Million

Over-65 Homestead • A Homestead Exemption is a statutory amount that reduces the appraised value of homestead property • Regular Homestead Exemption $15,000 • Over-65 Homestead Total Exemption $25,000 • School taxes are frozen as of the year Over-65 Exemption is granted • New school bonds will not impact taxes on a homestead currently receiving an Over-65 Exemption

  8. Voter Registration • Eligible Texans who are not registered to vote must register by October 7, 2013 • Voter registration applications are available at all Seguin ISD campuses

  9. Early Voting by Mail Applications for voting by mail should be mailed to be received no earlier than Friday, September 6, 2013 and no later than the close of business 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.
