  2. MARGINS • At the top of the screen click on PAGE LAYOUT • Click on MARGINS • Opt for NARROW margins • Or go to CUSTOM MARGINS at the bottom of the drop down menu and opt for super narrow - be a trailblazer!

  4. Data from www.ChangeTheMargins.com

  5. FONT Calibri Century Gothic • What’s the difference between Calibri and Century Gothic? Apparently a lot! • What’s the difference between Calibri and Century Gothic? Apparently a lot!

  6. From printer.com*The font size (10 or 11) is relative. Font size was chosen in such a way that the page filling for all fonts in the model letter was virtually the same.

  7. EconoMode • EconoMode is a feature that allows the printer to use less toner per page. Selecting this option may extend the life of the print cartridge and reduce your cost per page. However, it will also reduce print quality. The printed image is lighter, but it is adequate for printing drafts or proofs [or e-mails, meeting agendas, notes, etc!] (HP.com)

  8. Bonus! • Imagine you need to print a recipe for lemon layer cake to bake then bring to a department meeting…

  9. Think before you Ink Borrowed from the University of Florida

  10. Decrease Leading in Word Leading is the space between lines of type

  11. Example of Leading: 3.0 vs. 1.0

  12. Reduce the number of pages printed in COLOR • Price for a 24 page, 8.5”x11” color report plus a heavy-weight color cover: $20.00 per copy • Price for a 24 page report printed in black with just the front cover in color: less than $2.00 per copy • That’s more than 90% less

  13. Print first, then copy • It costs more to print a copy of a document than to photocopy the same document • Print a single copy of a document then photocopy for additional copies

  14. Sticky Note Tool • Go to the Review and Comment menu and select the Annotations Menu • Select the Note Tool • Click on the page to stick down your note • Click outside the note to exit and return to the document

  15. Conduct Paperless Meetings • Email and display meeting agendas electronically • PowerPoint • Laptop Display on Screen • Write the agenda on an erase board rather than printing it out

  16. Reduce Administrative Photocopying • Convert to electronic forms for time sheets, applications, etc. where possible • Contact Administration Office to determine which things need to be kept in paper or electronic forms

  17. Useful sites • www.changethemargins.com • www.printer.com • www.HP.com • www.dropbox.com • http://tischsustainabilityteam.wordpress.com/ • http://www.terracycle.net/en-US/
