  2. Background • Born in Wisconsin • She did chores and went to school. • She moved a lot. • She traveled and went to different schools. This is where Laura was born Carrie, Mary, and Laura

  3. 1894 • She moved to Missouri • When she moved she was one and a half years old. Laura’s house in Missouri

  4. 1885 • She became a teacher. • She wanted the children to learn. Teacher time Laura’s family

  5. 1932 • She published her first book called Little House in the Big Woods. • She was famous for the Little House series. Laura’s first book

  6. 1940 • Laura wrote Little house books until the early 1940s. • Laura loved reading books, too.

  7. 1940 • Sometimes she gave speeches and traveled. • She had fun. It felt like she was a hero. Carrie, Mary, and Laura when she was young

  8. Character traits • She was UNSELFISH because Mary was blind and she paid for Mary’s school. • She was HONEST to everyone. Mary when she started to become blind
