  3. Classic (n.): • A. An author or a literary work of the first rank and having enduring quality. • B. A work that is honored as definitive in its field. Classic (adj.): • A. of the first class; of acknowledged excellence. • B. Remarkably typical; outstandingly important. • C. Having enduring worth; timeless. ADVENTURE!: Terms

  4. Memorability • Theme(s)-universal/cross cultural • Style • Critical Acceptance • Timelessness. Five (5) Elements combine for a literary worK (BOOK/film/show/drama) to be a classic: ADVENTURE!: Terms

  5. Hero (n.) Usually the hero has universal appeal and may have qualities that we consider “ideal” for all people to possess. The rogue hero is someone who is unscrupulous or dishonest yet he/she is very likable. • A remarkably brave person • Somebody admired. • The main character in a fictional plot. • A person with superhuman powers.   6. Genre (n.) Genres: a category of an artistic work, as in music, literature, or film characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter. • Classic • Science Fiction: • Fantasy • Mystery • Survival ADVENTURE!: Terms

  7. Science Fiction A story based on the application of science and technology in fantastic situations. Stories that may or may not have life in the future and in other galaxies, etc. Consider it to be imaginative projections of possibilities. ADVENTURE!: Terms

Fantasy • Tales of magic combined with adventure. • They often involve romance and evil wizards, etc. • These stories are more fantastical in nature with far less reliance on hard science or science of any nature. • They are often set in the past or in a different dimension or world.
