TheHeartSaverProjectimplementedthegardeningprojectin2005asoneofthecommunity-basedactivities. Eachyear,theprogramprovidestheAbundantHarvestGardenboxesto10newfamiliesthatrequesttostarta garden. Over the last 4 years, we have increased from 10 to 64 boxes in the community. In addition to purchasing the garden boxes, the program works closely with outside resource programs to have the seeds donated. Several gardening workshops, cooking demonstrations/taste sessions have been attended by communitymembersandgardeners. Through the gardening project, we promote obesity and diabetes prevention through increased activity and healthiereating.
