  5. STATISTICS

  6. Target Behavior • Manage stress

  7. Theory (SCT) • Recognized as a health behavior “system” • Broken down into 3 main factors: • Personal influences: economic status, level of education, self-management skills, and self-efficacy • Environmental factors: family behavior, media influences, social norms, and community groups • Co-existing behaviors: support of unhealthy behavior, which leads to engaging more in the unhealthy behavior

  8. Smart Goal • Forms of stress-management: • Increase in exercise • Join a community group • Increase in positivity • Attend a local church • Maintain a healthier diet • Creating financial peace • Managing work load • Spouse relationship improvement

  9. Results • Highly educated on: • The advantages and disadvantages of the unhealthy behavior • Local churches • Community groups • Benefits of exercise • Started to attend a local church • Thinking in a more positive perspective • Decrease in work-load buildup • Exercised continuously

  10. X=exercise Y=attended church

  11. Personal / Professional Analysis • Using a theory to help guide my client and I was a huge help with both forming the plan itself, and going through it • Helping another individual change their unhealthy behavior, put a huge weight onto my shoulders, considering their personal self-efficacy, their perspective, and willingness to change • Gathering information and statistics on the unhealthy behavior certainly helped my client realize the advantages and disadvantages of that behavior
