  1. Dayspring Christian Fellowship Coupon Class SAVE! NEW BRAUNFELS How to save using coupons (Primer)

  2. What couponing is and what it is not • It is a way to save money…it is not a get rich quick scheme. • It is not like the unrealistic TV show “Extreme Couponing”

  3. For this shopping adventure, John and I went to Target. We spent a whopping 4 cents! lol!!

  4. Our shopping adventures took us to Walgreens one week. This is what we got for 80 cents...

  5. John and I went to Target one night....here is our stash and our expense. We spent 17¢...that's right... 17 cents!

  6. Excited?

  7. Different types of coupons • Manufacturer’s Coupons • Store Coupons • Catalinas • Rebates

  8. Manufacturer Coupons

  9. Store Coupons

  10. Catalina Coupons

  11. Rebate Forms

  12. Important features of a coupon • Type of Coupon • Expiration Date • Product Description • Rules and Restrictions(the fine print) • Coupon Amount • Bar Code

  13. Where do I get coupons? • Newspapers (Sunday Edition) • Online Coupon Sites • Manufacturer Websites • facebook • Coupon Services • Coupon Databases • Writing to companies (yes, this works!)

  14. Coupon Websites: • coupons.com • smartsource.com • redplum.com • target.com • walmart.com • And many more… (google is your friend) • You will need to download the coupon printing software to your PC to print up to two of each coupon you “clip”. The software detects your IP address you are coming from to try and limit your printing too many coupons. ;-(

  15. Manufacturers will occasionally offer coupons if you “like” them on facebook. • Manufacturers will also have “giveaway’s” for people who have already “liked” them. • Following your friends who tend to “like” product pages on facebook will lead you to additional coupons. • Watch your facebook ‘newsfeed’ for what the manufacturers are offering and when they are offering it…

  16. Coupon Services • These are special companies who, for a “handling fee”, will mail you coupons. These can be cut ‘individual’ coupons or whole newspaper inserts. • You can get inserts from newspapers printed in different ‘regions’ of the country. These may have coupons that are not printed in our local newspapers that offer an advantage for sales happening here. • Here are some examples: • http://www.couponsthingsbydede.com/ • http://thecouponclippers.com/ • http://wholecouponinserts.com/

  17. Coupon Databases • These are online easily searchable databases of all the current coupons • You can print individual coupons for products if they are available online. • Here are some examples: • http://www.afullcup.com/ • http://thekrazycouponlady.com/print-coupons/ • http://www.southernsavers.com/coupon-database/ • http://www.thecentsableshoppin.com/coupon-database/

  18. How to organize your coupons • There are two basic methods (each with pros and cons): • Whole inserts (cut them out later) • Cut out all the individual coupons at once.

  19. Pros: You don’t have to cut everything out. Cons: You need to have a database to refer to where each coupon is. You cannot spontaneously shop for items. You must have a separate method for tracking your internet printed coupons. How to organize your coupons(The whole insert way)

  20. Pros: You can spontaneously shop for items. (I have a coupon for that!) All your coupons are immediately mobile. Faster retrieval of coupons once the organization is done. Cons: This method takes the most time and effort. How to organize your coupons(Cut everything out)

  22. Storing your coupons • There are many methods to choose from. Some have their ‘pros and cons’: • Boxes • Accordion Files • Books

  23. It can look like this, though: Storing your coupons(in a box)

  24. Storing your coupons(in an accordion file) It can also get out of hand, if you let it…

  25. Storing your coupons(in a book or binder) This method can be the most expensive…
