Abbreviations Abbreviations are used by the United States Postal Service to make it easier to figure out where the mail need to go.
Sender’s Name • also know as “return address” • If you send the letter, your name goes here. • Ex.) Cassie Davis • If you receive the letter, the person who sent it to you puts their name here.
Sender’s Address • also known as the “return address” • the sender’s street address goes on this line • Ex.) 123 Easy Street
Sender’s Address (continued) • the sender’s city, state and zip code • Ex.) Fairmont, WV 26554
Recipient’s Name • This is where the person’s name who the letter is being sent to goes. • Ex.) Angie Smith
Recipient’s Address • This is where the person’s address who you are sending the letter to goes. Ex.) 2468 Even Avenue
Recipient’s Address (continued) • This is where the city, state and zip code go for the person you are sending the letter to goes. • Don’t forget that a comma goes between the city and the state.
Stamp • This indicates the payment of postage. It lets the mail worker know you paid to send the letter or package. • Sometimes it takes more than one stamp to send something depending on the size.
Stamp Instructions • The following slide will look like this: • Look at the stamps on the sides on the white box that says “Stamp”. • Chose the one you like best. • Click on it. • If you decide it is not the one you want click on it again. Then try another one. • Remember what number stamp you chose.

Directions • Use the information provided to fill in the blanks on the envelope. • In order to fill in the blanks you will use the pen tool. • The pen tool will appear when you move the arrow to the lower left hand corner. It is the second box from the left. • When you click on the box it will give you a list of options. Here you will click on the “Ballpoint Pen” tool. • If you need help click on the home link that will guide you back to the envelopes.

Good Job! • Once you are done press “Esc” on the upper left hand corner of the keyboard. You may need to press it twice. Read these instructions first. • A box will pop up. Click “Keep” not “Discard”. This will keep all of the marks you made with your pen. • Then click “File” on the menu. • Next click “Save As…” • Where it says file name type YOURNAMEenvelope. Ex.)
