  2. Competition • Student groups grades 6-Undergraduate asked to submit proposals for a high altitude balloon payload • Under 2 pounds, less than 12” on a side, no live animals, describe its objectives • Cash prizes for the science departments, grand prize trip to UND School of Aerospace Sciences

  3. Getting the Word Out • Letters to ND schools • NDSGC website • YouTube videos • WDAZ and WDAY news

  4. The Groups - Dickinson • Testing the viability of two strands of bacteria • Not able to come to the postponed launch weekend

  5. The Groups - Cavalier • Testing the effects of the upper atmosphere on eggs

  6. The Groups - Northwood • Measuring the temperature at different altitudes and taking pictures

  7. The Groups - Mandan • Comparing the effectiveness of solar panels in the upper atmosphere and on the Earth

  8. The Groups - Bismarck • Obtaining live video footage from the air

  9. The Launch • Originally scheduled in Bismarck April 28th, backup 29th • Bad weather that weekend, tried again in Grand Forks May 5th

  10. Recovery and Judging • Recovered only our tracking payload • Hope someone will find the other payloads and return them • Students will write up report, and judges will give scores to determine who gets the grand prize
