What is a HEALTHY school? • School spirit, students & teachers want to be there • Team approach to decision making • Responsive to student issues • Opportunities to take risks to maximize learning • Students are involved in health issues • Students & parents participate in healthy school promotion • Peer counselling & peer mediation – caring relationships reinforced

  13. EVIDENCE? • World Health Organization • 37 countries • 15 reviews of hundreds of studies involving CSH programs • The programs most effective were those promoting mental health, that were of long duration and high intensity, and involved the WHOLE SCHOOL.
