  2. Getting Started… • A career is something you want to do for the rest of your life, or until retirement. • To pick a career, you need to open up the Internet and go on the school Website. • Click on the word Agenda, and scroll down to Past Weeks.

  3. Getting Started…Part II • Click on Week 3: September 04, 2006 - September 08, 2006 (8th Grade) • Then, click on Tuesday’s Career Assignment. • Once there, minimize the screen (on the blue line, that is the button with a single line)

  4. Power-Point • Open up PowerPoint (on the right-hand, upper corner. It’s the orange button with the pie chart) • On the screen, there will be a gray box, click the white circle with the word Blank Presentation on it. • The next box that will appear, click on the O.K button, then fill in the blanks like shown, only put in your name.

  6. Creating a New Slide • To create a new slide look on the toolbar and click Insert. • Then select New Slide. • Select the picture with a gray bar and a box with three bullet points. Click O.K • Do this until you have 4 slides total ( 1 title page and 3 other slides.)

Finding Information • Now, click on the minimized screen to the Internet. • Scroll down to the bulleted points, highlight each question (press the left button and drag your mouse over the words.) • Copy the bullet points # 4 and 5, and on the extra slide, and on another slide write why you chose that career.

  8. Finding Information…Part 2 • Then right click, select copy, and go back to PowerPoint. • Once at PowerPoint, right click on the bigger of the two boxes and select Paste. • Put each question in its own slide.

  9. Finding Information…Part 3 • Go back to the Internet, and depending on what your career is, select a link that will help you answer the questions. • You can Copy and Paste the answers on the slides. • After finding and pasting the information, turn them into a complete sentences, similar to the next slide.

  10. Why I chose to Investigate Being a Farmer • Farming is very hard work, and I thought it would be fun learning what farmers do on a daily basis.

  11. Final Touches • Now after completing the questions, it’s time to add Clip Art and put a design template. • To add Clip Art, press the Insert button, move your mouse over to the word Picture and select Clip Art. • On the bar, type in something close to the career you chose, such as a pitchfork for a farmer. The next slide shows what it can look like.

  13. Final Touches Part 2 • To add a Backgroundor Design Template similar to what’s on this slide go to Format. • Click ApplyDesign Template and select a background you like. • Remember, Design Templates may vary on each computer.

  15. Why I chose to Investigate Being a Farmer • Farming is very hard work, and I thought it would be fun learning what farmers do on a daily basis.

  16. How much is the beginning salary? • Salaries for a farmer differ from season to season. • The lowest paid farmers earned an average of $350 per week.

  17. How much is the highest salary? • Salaries for a farmer differ from season to season. • The highest farmers made was $1,264 per week.
