That is why your fingers and toes are at risk for frostbite! When we are hot, blood rushes to skin to cool down organs. That is why your face turns red

  6. HEART • Type of Muscle: Cardiac • Job: Pump blood around the body • How?? With each beat, your heart fills with blood and contracts to squeeze it out

  7. What color is my blood? • Red Blood: -Carries Nutrients & Oxygen to body • Blue Blood: -Carries away Waste -Oxygen deprived

  8. BloodVessels Blood vessels are the highway system of the body. Blood travels in blood vessels to reach all the different cells in your body. Veins – Carry blue blood, oxygen-poor blood Carries blood to heart Arteries – Carry Red blood, oxygen-rich blood Carries blood away from heart Capillaries - Where oxygen/nutrients are dropped off and waste is picked up.
