  2. How does make money? • Hulu makes most of it’s money by online advertising. Companies pay the site to show their commercials. • All of the online content has ad-supported streaming videos. • 2010 Hulu Plus rolls out, the first ad-supported subscription service that allows NBC, FOX, and ABC to be streamed to an ipad, TV, iphone, 3G, WiFi, PS3, Samsung TV, and Blue Ray for $9.99 a month.

Annual Revenue Earned • went public on March, 12th, 2008 and generated sixty-five million dollars, with a profit of twelve million dollars. • 2009 - Annual revenue reached one hundred million dollars • 2010 – Annual revenue estimated to be between two hundred – two hundred & fifty million dollars. • After they pay their bills hulu is left with roughly seventy million dollars a year…not to shabby…

  6. Who created ? • Founded on March 22, 2007 by NBC Universal and News Corp. • Jason Kilar and Eric Feng are the two masterminds behind the site.

  7. hulu’s History • hulu has grown significantly since it was founded in 2007. • When site first started it only had 90 show titles and 10 sponsors. By Oct. 29, 2008 it had more than 1,000 shows and 100 sponsors. • 2009 – Site named #3 in Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies of the year • 2010 - Launched subscription service huluPlus

  8. hulu’s Impact on Society • hulu is a well known, established web site throughout the U.S. that provides access to a variety of shows & movies • With the launch of hulu plus viewers will now be able to stream their favorite content to a variety of medias. (PS3, WiFi, TV, iphone, ipad, ect) • This has made shows & movies more accessible to the people. The public controls what and where they watch.

  9. hulu’s Growth • Currently hulu is available in the U.S. only. • The site would like to expand worldwide but there is no timeline for this. To be able to go global hulu must clear the rights for each show or film in each specific geographic region.

  11. Why did I choose ? hulu is my favorite media because it is so convenient. I do not have cable in my home because I feel like it is a waste. With hulu I am able to watch all my favorite shows and movies without the hassle or expense of cable. I also like that even though there are ads streamed throughout the content, I am not continuously bothered by a commercial break.
