Urban Education Leaders Internship Program (UELIP) Office of College and Career Readiness (OCCR) Lisa Merrick, Class of 2014 Dean’s Office of Summer Funding Recipient of the Joanne Hess '54 Internship Fund Supervisor: Caitlin Stuart, Coordinator, Office of College & Career Readiness caitlin.stuart@dc.gov DC Public Schools’ Mission DCPS’ purpose is to ensure that every DCPS school provides a world-class education that prepares ALL of their students, regardless of background or circumstance, for success in college, career, and life. • Overview of Responsibilities & Experiences • Main project: updated the DCPS Guide to High School Options, a resource given to rising ninth graders & their families to guide them in choosing the best high school for them • Additional Projects: created a Freshmen Guide to High School and a DCPS Graduation Requirements Poster • Other experiences: assisted with the Rainbow (summer school) graduation, observed new course offerings at Summer School sites, organized and conducted college readiness panels, collaborated with school leaders, spoke with education leaders, and attended professional development sessions
