  1. Senior Goals and Deadlines: Amundsen High SchoolSemester One

  2. Senior Counselor: Ms. Kelly • September 24th: Senior Parent Night Parent night is mandatory. Seniors will receive the Senior Contract along with other important information about deadlines/expectations to aid their transition out of high school.

  3. Brag Sheet Due September 20th • Senior brag sheets are handouts that list student activities, achievements, and goals. • Brag sheets are REQUIRED for this class. • Brag sheets are REQUIRED for your senior portfolio. • Brag sheets are also REQUIRED when asking a teacher/staff member for a college/vocational/character reference letter. • We will work on Brag Sheets as a class during the week of September 9th.

  4. Counselor Meetings: Due Oct. 4th • All seniors will meet with Ms. Kelly to discuss senior transition procedures, expectations, current issues, and senior portfolios. This is one, MANDATORY meeting. • All seniors will address credit issues, college questions, and application/financial aid issues within these meetings. • Meetings will not exceed 20 minutes, unless needed by student. • You will meet during your lunch period unless otherwise noted. • Seniors will receive their appointment date through your advisory teacher. DO NOT MISS YOUR ADVISORY!!

  5. Amundsen College Fair: Oct. 18th • All Senior Seminar students are expected to attend the Amundsen College Fair. • The fair will go from 10am-12pm on the 18th. • During the week of the 18th, ask your teachers if they plan on taking the class to the fair. Most senior classes will be invited to attend by the counseling department. Please do not ask them now, as it is FAR too early in the year. Wait until the week of the fair. • Those students who meet in Senior Seminar during the above times, will attend the fair. • There will be a class assignment attached to the College Fair.

  6. Personal Statements: Due Oct. 25th • All Amundsen seniors will complete a personal statement. • All Amundsen seniors will have a personal statement in their senior portfolio. • Personal statements are required for college applications ,scholarship applications, and trade/vocational school applications. • The personal statement and all steps towards the personal statement are a large portion of your first quarter grade.

  7. Resume: Due November 25th • All Senior Amundsen students will complete a WORKING resume. • All Senior Amundsen students will have a resume included in their senior portfolio. • Resumes are required for many jobs, all careers, and some scholarship/college applications. • Resume and all steps towards creating a resume are a large portion of your 2nd quarter grade.

  8. Three completed College /trade school Applications: Due November 25th • All Amundsen seniors are required to complete three college and/or trade school applications. • All Amundsen seniors will have records of completing these applications in their senior portfolio. • Completing applications, both job and college, are a large portion of your 2nd quarter grade.

  9. FAFSA pin Workshops: Dec. 20th • All qualifying students will complete a FAFSA ( Free Application for Federal Student Aid) • Pin numbers are electronic signatures, as FAFSA is an online process. • Both student and parent/guardian need a FAFSA pin number. • Undocumented students are required to complete DREAMER scholarships in lieu of FAFSA.

  10. End of Semester One: Jan. 23rd • Congratulations! You completed all the first semester transitional deadlines as required for Amundsen graduation and this class! • We will have a class party when ALL class members complete the first semester required deadlines! Whoot whoot! • You now have FOUR MONTHS before graduation!!!!
