  5. Pre-Race Volunteers • If you are volunteering for Pre-Race positions, you will receive your assignments very soon

Race Day Check-In Sites August 19 at 9:30 AM • Aspen Recreation Center • 861 Maroon Creek Road Aspen • Snowmass Town Park Station • 2909 Brush Creek Road Snowmass Village August 20 at 7:00 AM • Jean Robert’s Gym • 720 E. Hyman Ave. Aspen Feel free to arrive early since we have a lot of people signing in at one time Have your Waiver forms filled out ahead of time and ready to turn in

Transportation to/from assigned locations from Check-In site Walk (be in position by 11:30 AM on August 19th and by 9:30 AM on August 20th) Ride bicycle (be in position by 11:30 AM on August 19th and by 9:30 AM on August 20th) Use public transportation (be in position by 11:30 AM on August 19th and by 9:30 AM on August 20th) On August 19th shuttle buses/vans for course marshals(leaving the Check-In site at 11:05 AM) On August 20th shuttle buses/vans for course marshals (leaving the Check-in site at 9:05 AM)

  8. General Information • Read the handbook ahead of time • Get schooled and know current race information • On race day: • On August 19, 2013all roads being used for the race will close at 12:00 Noon • On August 19, 2013 RFTA service from the Intercept lot to the Snowmass Village Mall will end after the 11:30 AM bus leaves the intercept lot. Service will not resume until the race ends • On August 19, 2013 RFTA service from the Snowmass Village Mall to the Intercept lot will end after the 11:45 AM bus leaves the Snowmass Village Mall. Service will not resume until the race ends.

  9. General Information • On August 19, 2013 RFTA service into and out of Aspen will occur as the race allows • On August 19, 2013 Snowmass Village Shuttle service on routes #3 and #8, will be dependent upon the ability for shuttles to move after the peloton has passed. All other routes will operate as scheduled. • On August 20, 2013 all roads being used for the race will close at 9:00 AM • Wear the t-shirt you will be provided at Check-In at all times during your shift(Put it on immediately when you receive it) • Bring the box lunch you will be provided at Check-In (August 19th only) If you have dietary restrictions, you may want to pack your own lunch • Dress for the typical Colorado weather • Wear comfortable shoes (no sandals) • Bring cool weather clothing • Bring a backpack or bag

General Information • Bring filled water bottle • Bring sun screen and lip guard • Bring sunglasses • Bring rain gear • Bring healthy snacks • Bring bug spray • Bring a watch and make sure you are on time • Bring course maps • DO NOT BRING DOGS • Bring pen and paper • Bring your smile, politeness, and your patience • You may bring a portable chair with you if you desire • Be aware that cell phones may not work at some locations along the race course

General Information • Once you arrive at your assigned location, familiarize yourself with it and your surroundings (bathroom facilities if any, police positions nearby, sources of water if any, etc.) • Be aware of the eight signs of terrorism • Surveillance • Information gathering • Tests of security • Funding • Acquiring Supplies • Suspicious persons out of place • Dry or trial run • Deploying assets

  12. General Information • Know the 5 W’s when reporting suspicious activity • What is happening • Who is doing it • Where is it taking place • When did you observe it • Why are you suspicious

General Information • Do not leave your post until the “End of Convoy” passes • When your race duties have ended, please leave your post cleaner than you found it • Return to the Check-in location to check out for the day • Your shift will end at approximately 4:00 PM on August 19th • Your shift will end at approximately 11:30 AM on August 20th
