  16. BATTERJEE MEDICAL COLLEGE Jeddah - KSA • 1st Medical College will be opened in 2007, further four Medical Colleges, each with a capacity of 4000 students, will be established in the Middle East by 2010. • 9 Faculties; Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Radiology, Laboratory, Physiotherapy, Health Management & Health Information. • The teaching curricula where developed by leading German Universities; the non for profit AVICENNA – Foundation and International Advisory Board will guarantee a high quality of teaching and medical research.

SGNAs - KSA Saudi German Institutes for Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences - 800 students at present - A N I • Offering Undergraduate Diploma Programs in Nursing and other specialties of applied medical sciences. • Affiliation with the IB Academy of Germany and UNISA of South Africa branches in Jeddah, Aseer, Riyadh and Madinah. • Mandatory the students have to participate in a site visit program at the Charite to Berlin, the biggest and most famous University Hospital in Europe.

Give in charity as a time will come upon you when a person will wander about with his object of charity and will not find anybody to accept it, and one (who will be requested to take it) will say, "If you had brought it yesterday, would have taken it, but to-day I am not in need of it."

  20. SGH Group Journey- for profit and non-for profit both- SGH Group has a focus on Middle East (KSA, Yemen, UAE, Egypt ) In Yemen SGH gone there even though many people told not to go.!!! In Hail (KSA) we are going there to support the local community who are not as rich like other parts of KSA and we will go to other poor regions of KSA where private Sectors will not be in favor to go. BUT SGH Group is going to include Africa nations like Ethiopia, Nigeria, Chad, GhanaEritrea, Congo …………… IN FUTURE The Group will also include Asian nations like Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh…… We will do many more non-for profit hospitals, Institutes, Blood banks across Asia (including Middle East) and Africa BUT we need more Partnerships and supports from Governments, NGOs, Charity Organizations, Private Groups…. 20

SGH Group - promoter for community services (1) Saudi German Hospitals Group as a responsible Corporate Citizen had demonstrated a serious attempts to do many Community Services including by opening many (most needed in the region) educational Institutions as Non for Profit organizations: -Saudi Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI), to Facilitates growth of Small and Medium Businesses in the KSA and in Arab World, www.sedi.org.sa Healthcare Management Research & Training Institute (HMRTI) which is dedicated to the Improvement of the Health Standards of the People through Health Management Research and Training in the region,www.hmri-me.or 21

ZAKAT PROJECTS / NON FOR PROFIT HOSPITALS • The Saudi German Hospitals group has developed a specialized program for projects which are donated as ZAKAT to the governments but also non for profit hospitals for rural areas together with world leading companies of the health care industry, and supported by different development funds. • The Saudi German Hospitals Group is planning, constructing, equipping and operating these Hospitals as their own contribution to develop corporate social responsibility to stamp attribute of developed societies in the Arab World. • The ZAKAT and non for profit projects are located in Oman, UAE, Kashmir, Sudan, Eritrea, Chad, Nigeria, Congo-Kinshasa, Ghana, and Nigeria ; further projects are planned In other African countries, Pakistan, and Afghanistan as well.

  24. Essentials: African Projects (1) 1. Standardized Basis Architecture Model located in or close to a city (suburban region) of not more than 500.000 population, in a rural environment but with accessibility and basic facilities Turn Key: 5 Million USD ( all inclusive ) ; Adaptable and modifiable construction – tailor able to the regional different needs 2. Structured and designed for secondary care; inpatients 50 beds; 12 outpatient clinics; calculated app. 2500 Inpatients ( 25- 30 %) and 7500 Outpatients = 10,000 patients p.a. ; access round the clock 3. Medical emphases addressed to the common disease of Africa e.g. Malaria, Hepatitis, and AIDS. Furthermore it will cover : Infectious Diseases, Simple Traumata, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology (Maternal Care), basic ophthalmology, dermatology, ENT, etc…basic abdominal surgery, basic dental medicine, simple laboratory (normal function), Simple X-ray.

  25. Essentials: African Projects (2) 4. Hospital design: The Emergency Unit operating 24 hours x 7days a week but it will not cover any tertiary care, specialized clinics, specialized surgery. Patients who need tertiary care will be referred with well equipped ambulance to the next suitable hospitals. Emergency/Recovery rooms with 9 beds. 2 Delivery Wards Capacity for 3 Operating Theatres, but will start with only 2 (1 in emergency, one in surgery ) Small blood center collecting donations from relatives, as a facility to manage own supply of needed blood 5. nursing education & training facility will be available as in all SGH ventures 6. Typical staff structure will start with 70 employees at the beginning. Managerial structure must have CMO & COO.

Outpatient Clinics: total 12 ; of them are 2 OB & GYN , 4 Internal Medicine, 1 Dental Medicine,1 Ophthalmology, 1 ENT, 2 Pediatric , 1 Urology/ Nephrology. 8. Environment emergency power supply : UPS and generator Fresh air system. Complete water treatment Incinerator for human waste. Waste management septic tank. The hospital should be able to function in a supporting environment & in presence of efficient utilities and infrastructure.

  30. 5. Strategic out view (1) 1. SGHG is a “ learning organization “ 2. We will start in this year with our first NFP- Hospital in Pakistan; we will use our experience from this project to start in 2008 with the first NFP hospital in Africa. 3. We will develop a “ standardized hospital model “ for Africa which is able to cover the most pressing needs but also adaptable for special needs in the region 4. We plan to set up within the next ten years 10 hospitals; each year a hospital plus a nursing school; we want to speed up the time frame for further hospitals but also to improve the medical quality and economic sustainability

Non For Profit Projects needs a spiritual & religious fundament and a team spirit of brotherhood and selflessness between all required partners – a new definition of partnership , social responsibility and teamwork 6. We invite to participate in these challenging task the big development funds & finance institutions the Non Governmental Organizations the African governments the World Organizations and their regional representatives as e.g. WHO, UNESCO, IHF, JCAHO, and the African Union Commission the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry the Universities and other educational institutes
