  6. FRx - discussion points FRx is still being supported FRx has never been 64-bit ‘friendly’ Likely supported for as long as GP 2010 will be GP 2010 debuted May 2010 Support likely ends May 2015 Plan for FRx support thru December 2014 (recommendation) GP v10user with FRxfor your financials? GP 2013 will NOT be compatible with any version FRx Plan your upgrade with this in mind GP 2013 to be made available in Q4 of 2012 MR 2012 does not work with GP v10, either GP v10 support sunsets in October 2012
  7. More FRx items… FRx Specification Sets MR 2012 Building Block Groups FRx has ‘Drill Down Viewer’ for looking at reports MR 2012 has ‘Report Viewer’ FRx simply needed your GP login / password MR 2012 users MUST have AD domain accounts for authentication FRx has “Exception Reporting” for Rows MR 2012 has “Missing Account Analysis” for all building blocks At the end of the day, MR 2012 uses MANY of the same concepts as FRx so your knowledge of the latter application will help you with the former.
  8. System Requirements System prerequisites The following components must be installed before the data provider can be configured on your system:  Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 The data provider is compatible with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010. Earlier versions of this system must be upgraded to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 to integrate with Management Reporter 2012. To use the Drill to Dynamics feature, you must have version 11.0.1860 of Microsoft Dynamics GP or later(11.00.1914+ for SQL Server 2012). Note: The data provider does not require the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 client to be installed on the same computer, but the data provider requires access to the ERP database.  Dexterity Shared Components The Dexterity Shared Components must be installed on a computer where the Management Reporter 2012 application service and process service are installed. Note: These components are included on the installation disk for Microsoft Dynamics GP, in the DexteritySharedComponents folder.  Management Reporter 2012 server components Data providers must be configured on any computer that hosts the Management Reporter 2012 application service and process service. To configure these components, see the Management Reporter installation guide. User account requirements The user account that is used during installation for the data provider must meet the following requirements:  In Microsoft Dynamics GP – Have an active user account in Microsoft Dynamics GP.  In Management Reporter 2012 – Be a user assigned to the Administrator role, and have an Active Directory® domain account user ID and password. User account permissions in Microsoft Dynamics GP must be set up before configuring Management Reporter. Note: All Management Reporter users must have Active Directory domain accounts for authentication. For more information, see “How to create a domain account in Active Directory” on MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa545262(CS.70).aspx). After Management Reporter is installed and fully configured, you can add users and modify security permissions. See the Management Reporter Help documentation for more
  9. Installing MR 2012 = Much Easier Server piece *MR 2012 now requires a 64-bit MSFT Access 2010 database engine Configurator Console Client piece
  10. Installation
  11. Installation/Configuration
  12. Installation/Configuration
  13. Installation/Configuration
  14. Installation/Configuration
  15. Installation/Configuration
  16. Overview Why Management Reporter? FRx Technology 32 Bit, and 15 years old Tighter integration with SharePoint (Current) technologies Maturing dataor ”information” access requirements (I need it now/fast/and meaningful) Microsofting (Verb) The MR Journey MR 2012 MR R2 MR R1 FRx FRx FRx
  17. Taking the Dive Are you Ready?….Probably When?….Next Upgrade or Today, what’s better? Time Vs. Talent, Same Concept for GP Version delays: Time degrades the resource pool available of older technologies What should I do to prepare? What if it doesn’t work, what’s my ‘life jacket’?
  18. Functionality and Familiarity New Control Panel:
  19. Functionality and Familiarity Report Organization “Microsofting” Familiar…..but different No more “Catalog” It’s a “Report”
  20. Functionality and Familiarity Your Basic Row “Microsofting” Note the “:” instead of the word “To” Indicates the “Dimension” being used - Segment
  21. Functionality and Familiarity Your Basic Column Financial Dimension/Was “GL” (Are we planning to include AP/AR perhaps?) Was “CUR” (Current)
  22. Functionality and Familiarity NEW Tool Bar approach – think “Office Ribbon” Yes! Undo/Redo
  23. The Bottom Line… MR 2012 > Management Reporter v2.0 MR 2012 > FRx* Multicurrency users should still wait on making the MR 2012 leap Heavy users of FRx’s ‘Row Linking’ functionality should also wait FRx Forecaster integration into Management Reporter? Mystery still surrounds this…it is an open item, for now
