  2. INTRODUCTION: GOALS: We are going to learn about littering and we will experience what it is like to make a difference in our community! Hi! We are about to go on a green adventure!

  3. As a class, we will go to a local park to pick up litter. We will separate into four groups. One group will pick up plastics; one will pick up aluminum; one will pick up paper; and one will pick up the remaining trash. One student , from one group, will take pictures of the park before picking up the litter. Two students from the next two groups, will take turns taking pictures of all the students picking up the litter. Another student will take pictures of the litter we have collected. In their groups, students will then discuss the causes and effects of littering and cleaning up litter. They will then do some research with the websites provided. The students will then make a power point in their groups, with a solution to the littering problem. Then, as a class, the students will take a vote and choose one solution and they will make a petition with the solution to the litter problem. The students will then take the petition around the school and ask the faculty and staff if they will sign it. The students will also each take a petition home to have their parents sign it and maybe their family and friends with the permission of their parents. Finally the students will present their solution to the mayor of the city and then give him/her the petition they have created. Activities
