  4. How Can I Prevent HD? Genetic inheritance plays a role in CHD Most important determinant is personal lifestyle – we have a lot of control! Almost all of the major risk factors for CHD are preventable and reversible

  5. Regular physical activity helps to control most of the major risk factors that lead to heart disease

  6. Lifetime participation in physical activity is one of the most important factors in the prevention of cardiovascular disease

  7. Habitual aerobic exercise helps increase HDL cholesterol (“good” cholesterol)

  8. Habitual aerobic exercise increases insulin sensitivity and decreases risk for diabetes

  9. Regular physical activity is an important way to maintain healthy blood pressure
