  4. What is an Interactive Notebook? • A personalized textbook • A working portfolio – all of your notes, classwork, quizzes – in one convenient spot.

  5. Right Side • The Right is for reflection • It is a chance to work with what you’ve learned and “show what you know”

  6. Examples of Right Side Assignments • Diagrams • Poems • Reflections • Comics • Acrostics • Advertisements • Posters • Epitaphs • Posters • Songs

  11. Left Side • The left is for learning • The left side is Mr. Beasley’s side of your notebook. • Remember, L=Learning

  13. Maintaining the Interactive Notebook • No ripped out pages or torn corners • No doodling that doesn’t relate to notes • Notebook should only be used in Social Studies. (No other classes!!) • Date and number each page as instructed by Mr. Beasley

  14. Grading Procedures • Notebooks will be graded at least once a month • Students will receive a copy of the INS grading rubric before the first grading period • It is important to bring notebook to class everyday!

  15. Keys to INS Success • Organization is the key • Cover will be creative and Show Me You!! • Everyone will be consistent (the same) with some parts of the INS

  16. “What if I’m absent?” • If you are absent, it is your responsibility to obtain notebook assignments from either • Another student • The sample notebook • Or the teacher

  17. ISN Cover • The cover must contain the following information • First and last name • It must say “Social Studies Interactive Notebook” somewhere on the front • Anything You Want to Personalize It With • Keep it School Appropriate

Title Page Center the following information • Top title line • Social Studies Interactive Notebook • Middle of the page (start one line above the center hole) • Name • 7th Grade Social Studies • Period ____ (ex. 1st, 4th) • Bottom of the page (start one line above the bottom hole) Meadowlark Middle School Wolfpack Team 2014 - 2015
