  2. TOBB and The Accession Process • TOBB is assigned duties by law: • to voice the interest of its members; • to ensure information flow to the business community on the EU legislation, • 27 chapters are directly linked with the interests of the business community,

  3. TOBB and EU Accession Process • What are we doing: • Capacity building at TOBB level • Capacity building at local level (chambers) • Capacity building at corporate level • Work on harmonization of Turkish legislation with the EU law • Information and lobbying

ETCF: 3 types of Capacity Buildings • EU-certification program Training for personal capacity building • Publications  Publications to spread information across chambers and to the final beneficiaries – Turkish companies • Chamber Accreditation  Update the Chamber accreditation standards to improve chamber competitiveness on EU level

EU certification program • Objective • Certificate in European policies: a business perspective“Become an EU expert!” • A comprehensive training programme in European policies for Turkish Chamber executives to have knowledge and skills to provide information, guidance, support and advice on EU policies to their members.

EU certification program (cont.) • Training outline • Locations: Ankara & Istanbul • Duration per module: 2,5 days • Capacity: 50 participants total (25 per training) • Applications: open to all 365 chambers and commodity exchanges in Turkey (selection process). • Certification by partner university

  9. EU certification program (cont.) Application Process: Admission to the Program will be based onthe applicants’ professional experience and motivation. Requirements: • To be an executive from a Chamber • The chamber should have an interest in developing EU services • Personal particular interests • Strong commitment to EU-topics • Very good level in English

  10. 2. Publications • Outline • 6 manuals on 6 different EU topics of particular relevance for Turkish businesses will be produced. • They will accompany the EU certifcation program. • The authors of these manuals will be the EU program lecturers and other selected experts in the relevant field.

Publications (cont.) • Content • Description of the EU-regulation relevant to companies for daily business. • Company-Checklist for compliance with EU-regulations in the specific field • Target group: SMEs in Turkey • Language: Turkish - English • Production: printed version & electronic for free download
