Green Agenda Resolution • Why? • Signatory to US Conference of Mayors Climate Change Agreement • Bring environmental point-of-view into all areas of City operation • Prepare for green House Gases Compliance requirements from future Federal, State, and local Laws • Become better stewards of our energy resources and environment

Goals/Success Factors EDUCATION: Help every North Little Rock citizen become a better steward of energy resources by raising their “energy IQ.” PARTICIPATION: Show people what is realistic for them to do and how they can help those most in need. POLICY: Balance and integrate environmental responsibilities into the daily management of residential and industrial growth, municipal expenses, education, energy and water use, air quality, transportation, waste reduction, economic development, and open space and natural habitats.

  7. Green Agenda Process Mayor/Council Mayor/Council establishes policy • Citizens Committee At Large members represent key constituencies for input/feedback into process. Members represent: • Large electric users • Low-income • Environmental groups • Gas/water utilities • Engineering • Real estate/developers • Civic leadership • Education • Healthcare • Media/Communications • Neighborhood coalitions • Hispanic community • Seniors • City Wards CC At Large R.T. Resource Team provides oversight into processes and serve as members of CC - Specialized/technical expertise required

Green Agenda Resolution Approved by Council 8/25/08 • Action Plan • Continue residential audit program, other educational and Participation efforts • Recruit and resource team • Recruit At Large Members • 2 nominees from each Alderman; 4 at large nominees from Mayor • Complete Greenhouse Gas Carbon Disclosure Project with ICLEI • Committee begins Orientation and holds first meeting
