  2. What is SuperMAG? SuperMAG is a global collaboration that provides ground magnetic field perturbations from a long list of stations in the same coordinate system, identical time resolution and with a common baseline removal approach. The collected and processed high quality ground based magnetic field data provide a unique capability of addressing the global spatiotemporal behavior of the large-scale ionospheric electric current system and its coupling to the magnetosphere. However, the inherent problems with ground magnetometer data can complicate or even prevent global studies. Data are provided in a variety of file formats, temporal resolutions, units, coordinate systems and are provided with or without some baseline subtracted. SuperMAG is: - Fully operational and online at http://supermag.jhuapl.edu - Funded by both NSF and NASA - SuperMAG is the logical way forward for the ground magnetometer community

  4. Current Status Of SuperMAG • SuperMAG is fully operational. Went online in January 2009 and currently: • >18.000 hits last month • >100 registered users • ~700 unique IP addresses last month • All measures of usage are increasing every month. • SuperMAG constantly: • Add features • Improve tools • Improve data quality • Add to the data holdings. • All suggestions, corrections, comments are welcome.

  5. SuperMAG And RBSP While real-time data is not currently served by SuperMAG, the comprehensive data handling software package has no inherent problems dealing with real-time data. This includes: - determine and rotate to local magnetic coordinate system - determine and subtract baselines The website can: - ingest and display real-time data Relevant science: - Empirical magnetic field models (TS-like modelling) - Global monitoring of Pc-1 to Pc-5 pulsations (RB mechanisms: EMIC/ULF waves) - Global ionospheric currents and their coupling to the magnetosphere SuperMAG is ready to serve the RBSP community.
